I always tell my schoolkids that one of the good things about being an adult is that you can eat whatever you want for dinner. I have been craving vanilla wafers for more than a week now, so I finally decided to put the craving to rest for a while. I went to the grocery store and got a box and had them for dinner.
I like vanilla wafers because they can be eaten a bunch of different ways: you can eat them in the regular way; or you can press them against your front teeth while making a nibbling motion, thus crushing them to crumbs in your mouth; or you can press the bottoms of two cookies together, making a flying saucer shape, and hold them in your mouth while drinking milk so they turn soft and you can smoosh them with your tongue.
I went to bed feeling kind of sick last night. Excellent. Now I won’t be craving vanilla wafers again for several months.
If ever there would be a contest of ‘how much of one thing can you eat before you barf’ – you would totally be the champion. You’ve trained well.
I also understand that they can be the bottom crust of an adorable tiny cheesecake. 🙂
Have they always just said “Nilla” on the box? Because that’s how I spell it too.
And I’ve always called them nilla wafers, too. I’m a little surprised by brads “vanilla”… it just doesn’t sound right…
I’ve always called them Vanilla Wafers. They must have changed the name. I’ll research.
It’s a proven fact that nibbling food burns up twice as many calories… as does other
mentalunique methods.I laughed out loud as I read your eating habits & that you’re brave enough to post about them. I laugh because I do such similar things. I eat saltine crackers like you eat these cookies …the nibbling method I mean. And I eat Better Cheddars & Cheez Its a certain way too. And popcorn. I have a great way of eating puffy cheese curls that requires biting them in half first. Are we freaks? Are we related? AND I put the bottoms together of another food…do you remember what it is? A free gift if you do.
Um. I’ll take a guess. Fudge Stripes?
Oh wait. Oreos. Yes? You take two bottoms off and put the whites together?
Good guess, but no. Although I do usually take off one cookie side of an Oreo & give it to the dog…and eat the other side with the white filling. It’s an open face Oreo cookie for me or it’s nothing. Not Fudge Stripes either.
I really like fudge stripes, but I buy the generic kind, so that Lauren doesn’t eat them.
I don’t care for the generic Fudge Stripes…at least not the ones in MD.
BRAD–No guesses on the food I put the bottoms together to eat? Hint: I have to lick the bottoms to get them to stick.
