Sleeping in the Kitchen Window

When I eat my spoonfuls of flax every morning I stand over the sink. That way, if any flax drops it’s contained. When I stand at the sink, I can look out the window and see the paper being delivered to the bank or whatever. This time, my eye was drawn to the stained glass cross that hangs in the window. It had a big bee on it. AHH! There was a carpenter bee in my kitchen!

After I finished coughing because of the ground flax I inhaled, I found a lidded container to scrape the bee into. It was compliant because it was so sleepy. But it did make a loud buzzing noise right at the moment of scraping that made my heart stop beating. Bees are scary, even if they are beneficial to gardening.

I left it on a large dahlia outside. Where it will probably die.

I didn't do a quarter for scale because... Yikes!

How did you know it was a carpenter bee? Did it have a little tool belt?

And you didn’t kill it? You’re getting to be a softie.

Today must be your lucky day little Bee. Geez, Stayin’ alive for a few more days, or hours, or minutes…seconds?

(do you see the pun, do ‘ya?)

Mrs. Bee to children left without their father: “How can you mend – a broken har-ar-art?” Got it, Pegster. Clever!

I thought you were going to post a picture of Yard Cat sleeping in your window.

    So I’m a little disappointed.

Or perhaps a snap of yourself falling asleep eating flax – that can’t be all that exciting, can it?
