Failure/Success

Yesterday I took a break from schoolwork to go to Arundel Mills Mall. I’ve been on the hunt for a book that Beth recommended, and there’s an awfully big bookstore there. It turns out that they didn’t have the book.

So I decided to look for a scarf. My coat and jacket are in pretty good shape still, so I don’t need new ones. But I’d like to get something new. So I looked at scarves. My theme for the day was finding a scarf I really liked, then discovering it was a women’s scarf. It happened twice. Once the store had a women’s scarf on a male mannequin. The second time, a women’s scarf was mixed into the men’s section.

But then I went to H&M. I love that store. They had a giant, soft, fringed scarf. And it was for men. And it was $8.

So soft...

A scarf seems a reasonable ‘satisfaction-per-item’ purchase, especially for eight bucks. Well done, bargain shopper!

Did you then go back to school to work? That would be a sad ending to a good story.

I did go back to school work, but I did it at home. I finished at 9:30pm. Ugh. I have to figure out how to be more efficient or less thorough or something.

What’s the difference between a man’s scarf and a woman’s scarf? I mean besides the tag?

    • Brad

Heh. Well, I obviously have trouble determining that. The women’s scarves I liked were both really long. I couldn’t find a super-long men’s scarf.

I was wondering the same thing, Karla – thanks for asking! I would have been perfectly comfortable in the scarf Brad chose…except that I’m usually too warm and wouldn’t have worn any scarf, unless I wore just the scarf and no coat, which I am wont to do in the winter here. …I know…TMI…

    Excellent presentation of the purchase.

Nice looking scarf! I love that color.

    1. What book were you looking for?
    2. How did you know those other scarves were womens? Are they tagged differently? I would assume scarves are non-gender. And I would assume that longer scarves would be mens…beings they tend to be taller. What color were the 1st two?
    3. Is everything at Arundel Mills $8.00….it seems to me you get an awful lot of good stuff for that amt.
    4. Are your coats black?
    5. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

      1. “Sons of Encouragement” by Francine Rivers. I really just want to read the story about Amos, but by itself, it’s $15. If I buy the collection (which contains five stories), it’s $17. It seems silly to buy just a single story when I could get five for two more dollars.
      2. In the first store, I couldn’t find the scarf the mannequin was wearing, so I asked someone where it was. She walked me over to the women’s section. In the second store, I was suspicious, so I went to the women’s section myself and found where the scarf had come from.
      3. I only buy things from Arundel Mills that cost $8.
      4. One coat is tan, one is olive, and one is black.
      5. A woodchuck would chuck as much as he should chuck.
