Rock Planting

I got some work done in the garden over Thanksgiving break. Most notably, I placed the rocks that I had acquired from the field in Pennsylvania. I’m very excited about having placed them. I ‘planted’ many of the rocks in a vertical position. I think it looks really interesting. I’ll enjoy seeing what they’ll look like as the seasons change.

I’ve also given myself a delightful task. After supplementing an existing rock circle with even more rocks, it now has a substantial look to it. There used to be a cherry tree in the middle of it, but now that it’s cut down, I’ll need to find something new to plant in the circle. It will be a nice long search over the winter and will be fun to dream about.

It's the perfect location for a life-sized weeping angel.

I did a short movie to show all the rock placements:

Wow – it really changes the look of the garden! That’s what they call ‘hardscaping’, right? It’s very cool. The circle would be a good place to do some magic. Put the T-Rex head in there and see if you can conjure up a real one.

I’m curious how your thumb and back feel after all that rock arranging.

I did a lot of the work on Friday, which is why I posted yesterday about my thumb hurting. It’s feeling better today.

My back has been pretty trouble-free lately. It hurts, but it’s just normal hurt. I haven’t had any incidents with it. I am VERY careful when moving heavy things. While doing these rocks, my hand cart was my friend. I also dragged and rolled them rather than lifting.

That looks really cool. I think you should try to get a pickup full of rocks from every state of the union. You could have one really huge rock from Colorado, some gravel from Kansas…

You’ve got your own little Stonehenge going on there!
I’m very impressed. The heaviest thing I moved this weekend was a ham from the oven!

Very cool….and ceremonial looking!! Now you can dance for it to snow, for it to stop snowing, for an early spring, for less repeats on TV ….. the possibilities are endless!

But if you do plant a tree in the middle, how about something like this:

Uh oh. New restrictions at work? I’m sorry for your loss. I am currently able to view YouTube at work, but used to not be able to. I feel your pain.

I’m hoping not. When I try, it says I need an upgraded browser. I’ve emailed a few people. We’ll see what responses I get. Keep your fingers crossed!

Yay….I just watched the video! I didn’t realize you planted rocks thru out the garden . I LOVE the clump where the rhubarb used to be! So simple, yet so appealing! Hmmm….planting rocks….that just may be my nitch (you don’t have to water rocks, right?)
