Depeaching

I worked in the garden a little bit yesterday morning. Lately, I’ve been having extra time each day that I could be working in the garden or doing some house project, but I haven’t had much energy. Since morning is my best time of day, I went out to the garden first thing in the morning. I pulled and poisoned more Canadian thistles. I will beat them. It will take some vigilance, but I will beat them. I also pulled some other weeds and did some general clean-up. My fire pit is ready for marshmallow toasting, just in time for the hot weather!

I also tended to my peach tree. In the spring, it is positively covered with flowers. This leads to enormous clusters of peaches.
There were hundreds of peaches on the tree.

If I would leave all those peaches on the tree, they would compete for nutrients and languish. Besides that, their close proximity to each other would invite disease and insects. So, I must de-peach the tree a little. I didn’t follow any formula or anything – I just grabbed each cluster and started pulling peaches off until it seemed like there were only a few left. In this way, the peaches that remain will be large, healthy, and juicy.
Future deliciousness.

Cool! Did you try nibbling on one or are they so hard they could break your teeth and so sour you’d pucker up and turn your face inside out?

We went to Beth’s last night and she had frozen peaches to turn into delicious drinks, and the whole time I had a VBS song running through my head. Now your post has activated it this morning.

    He’s a peach of a Savior,
he’s the apple of my eye.
    He prunes away the branches
when the branches get too high.
He bears his fruit in season
and his love will never die,
and that’s why I’m bananas for the Lord! (chomp)
    Glory, glory, we’re the braaaanches.
    Glory, glory, we’re the braaaanches.
    Glory, glory, we’re the braaaanches,
and that’s why I’m bananas for the Lord! (chomp)

There are actions, but I’m eating cereal and that could get messy.

I’m glad you weeded out the weak, sick and (one presumes) young peaches. You are performing a valuable service to peachkind.
