Half Done

I got my TV and internet up and working yesterday! Woo hoo! My apartment is one half ready to move in to. Once I figure out some sleeping arrangements, I’ll be all-the-way ready to move in.

The setting up of the TV required a TV. I got one from Walmart. Its energy guide sticker seems to say this is an efficient electronic device. With such energy savings, I’m obliged to watch TV a lot, right?
Thumbs up for energy savings!

I was in and out of my apartment a lot. I was greeted more than once by my doorman. He’s a Gold Dust Gecko. He is almost always on my door frame.
I should name him.

All morning, I was smelling a powerful fragrance. I looked all around for some kind of bloom. It wasn’t until I stepped out on my balcony that I noticed that the palm tree was blooming. It was absolutely covered with honey bees. The smell was so sweet!
The bees are hard to see. You'll have to take my word for it.

I had to drive back to the cable company office for some more coaxial cables. I am astounded by the beautiful scenery that surrounds this area. I was just sitting at a stoplight and noticed the West Maui Mountains in the background. I hope I never get used to these gorgeous views.
Their enormousness is hard to capture in a picture.

I passed by Lowe’s. I didn’t know there was a Lowe’s in Kahului. It was exciting! I had to visit. It smelled exactly like the Lowe’s stores in Baltimore. I was surprised to see heaters though. It was over 80 degrees yesterday!
I wonder what people think when they see me taking pictures like this...

After getting the TV set up, I took a cookie break:
I dont have any glasses yet. I poured milk into an empty Mountain Dew bottle.

And now my living room is almost complete. TV, internet, and Xbox… What more do I need?
I sat in the corner against the wall and watched a Big Bang Theory rerun.

Love it! Love it all! I like the ‘zen’ of minimalism that you are achieving. Well done with your Mountain Milk! Keep those photos coming! I especially like seeing the stores – seeing familiar things makes it more familiar, less ‘off planet’.

Is your TV an Emerson? It looks like my TV at school, only much, much larger.

I vote for naming your doorman Edward. It’s got a cool sophistication about it, just as he does.

You get to wear shorts all the time. I am freezing here in Nebraska with the windchill forecasted at -10 today.

Answer about apple spray from Valerie’s blog:
I have 3 standard apples planted right infront of yard. The previous owner have all the branches going upward pruned so they look like weeping tree. But I have to keep them pruned to remained that way every year. The mess of the fallen apples is the worst part, because they cannot be consumed anyway since they are all full of worms. To prevent the apple trees from producing fruits, I blasted the flowers with strong jet of water as soon as they appear. Well not as soon as they appear, but as soon as I get the chance, and the weather permits. It did not work, and I saw small apple fruits coming out in a few weeks. I thought I wasted my time. When the apples were huge I pick some and there were no bugs in them. I pick some more, and there was none. I believe instead of busting the fruits, I busted all the bugs and their eggs on the tree. I cannot consume all the apples, I tried to take them to the farmer’s market where I sell my plants, but I still have so many. So I put them on Craigslist for free. I cannot believe how so many people appreciated getting apples for free.

Nobody’s offered this yet, so I feel obliged: obviously, if the gecko is your DOORMAN he must be named CARLTON…as in “Hello…this is Carlton, your doorman…” …remember? From that TV show decades ago?? (Or am I just that old…)

You’ve been there long enough to have had the GeeIwishIhadpackedthat experience at least once. I’m going out on a limb here and saying “at least one drinking glass” is on that list. Is there a longer list of incidentals you could compile so that, say, your Baltimore friends could pool resources and send you a CARE package? Just a thought…

…and how is your TV able to use less energy than the lowest of the range on the sticker on the front?? (“When it’s turned off!”, of course…)

Very nice….your apt is becoming a home! Love the little gecko! Remind him to stay away from electrical outlets.
