Gas was more expensive in Maui, but I only filled my gas tank maybe once a month. I’ve been back in Baltimore for about a month, and I’ve filled up three times already. Sheesh! Part of the issue is that I’m using driving as entertainment. I guess it’s kind of cheap… compared to buying gold and throwing into the river.
Maybe I’ll cut back on the driving a little.
Another difference I’ve noticed is that Maui didn’t have the latch thingies on the pump handles that would keep the gas running. I had to manually squeeze the handle until the tank was full. Back here in Maryland, I’ve used the pump handle lock lever. It allows me to gather whatever trash I can find in my truck and throw it away while filling up.
Ha! Throwing gold into a river – that’s hilarious!
With the Maui pumps, did they automatically click off or did it keep running and turn into a musical gasoline fight?
What’s with the tape on the gas pump handle?
That’s how they used to keep the gas pumping without holding the handle.
Dang it….that’s what I should do while my car is filling up….get rid of trash & such. I usually just stand with my back up against the car & day dream. Or go over the mental list of things I have to do next.
PS. I’m guessing your truck doesn’t get as good of gas mileage as your Hawaiian car either.
