A Friendish Day

I had a day full of friends yesterday. I met Michele for breakfast. We ate at the diner near my house. We both had bacon. Mmm… We also had lots of laughs. We sat there for a long time. I think our server was a little concerned that we might never leave.

I had a late lunch appointment with Brady and family. They’re moving to Indianapolis this month, and by the time I’m back from Nebraska they’ll be gone. I said I’d bring salad, so I stopped at the grocery store for ingredients. As I was picking peaches, suddenly I was greeted by Melody – my friend and former co-worker Melody! Ha! We had a quick chat and promised to have lunch sometime. Then I was off to Brady’s.

I had an absolute blast with Brady and Lark and their kids. We had pizza, then just hung out. Noah did a singing and dancing concert for me with one of his songs from VBS. Miriam drew me a picture. I had great conversations with Lark and Brady. It was delightful. To top it all off, before I left they gave me gifts. I got a propane torch, a bracelet that said “Maui”, and my pick of hats from a bag. I chose the one that said “Wyoming”, because it reminded me of a funny song from an American Express ad. HERE is the song. If you want to watch the whole commercial, it’s HERE.

The hat is even reversible! It says Cowboys on the other side.

Yea for unexpected reunions – and for planned ones! This did indeed sound like a record day for reconnecting for you. Good deal. Now remember to call Melody to make that lunch date!!

I will miss the Gurganii (my Latinized plural there); they are wonderful souls. Perhaps I’ll especially miss when Brady would come into my room as he would leave some days and begin a story about something he’d experienced with, “So….” as he’d walk over to my desk to reveal the latest craziness. A kindred spirit. God bless their move and his new placement!

Oh, no, Nebraska! Is there a plainer state, I ask ya? Oh, yes – Wyoming!

Love, love, love it! I’m so glad you had a great day with friends, too! Baltimoreans, you rock!
