A Tree-mendous Amount of Free Time

On Sundays, I usually rush from church to work. Yesterday, something weird happened. As I was pulling up to my house, with only a short time before I had to leave for work, I started thinking about what I should eat for lunch. I was running through the options in my head, when something in my brain went *click*, and I suddenly I was thinking that I didn’t go in until 2pm. Suddenly, I had TONS of time.

What did I do? I bought and planted a tree. đŸ™‚

Actually, this wasn’t as impulsive as it sounds. I have been looking for a white-flowering Redbud tree for a while. I found one, have been waffling back and forth about whether I should get it. Yesterday I just decided to do it.

I planted it in front of my house. It will serve two purposes:
1) It will provide shade for the sidewalk, and maybe even for my parked car.
2) It will bloom with beautiful white flowers right alongside my existing Redbud and its beautiful pink flowers.

I will be digging out those plants at the base of the tree. They don't belong there anymore.

Going in to work late ended up being ok. I stayed late and helped out what would have been a short-shifted situation at the end of the night.

….. so, the idea of ‘nap’ never entered your head? Instead you choose hard, physical labor? I don’t know if we can be friends anymore.

    (It’s a beautiful tree. Enjoy!)

I’m confused; I thought sloth always beat out using energy or being physical. Hmmm…lovely result, though!

Good thing you could stay late yesterday, eh? Now you can look back and say, “I planned that!” Yea.

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now. –Chinese Proverb.

I like how you say, “it WILL provide shade…” “it WILL bloom” when you plant things. Maybe if I had that attitude instead of, “it’s supposed to…” or “it MIGHT…” I’d have better luck with plants.

    Great title!
