Shelfing

My new classroom didn’t have a bookshelf. I like to have books in the room that kids can look at when they aren’t doing something else. I have all kinds of books for them. The most popular selections have been the books of “top ten” lists.

Anyway, I had an extra bookshelf at home, so I brought it to school. I had the perfect spot for it, but there was an outlet in the way. No problem… I would just cut a hole in the back of the bookshelf.

First I marked the back where it needed to be cut.

First I marked the back where it needed to be cut.

Then I raised it into place.

Then I raised it into place.

All shelves in place.

All shelves in place.

I bolted the top of the shelf to the wall so it won’t fall forward.

I haven’t found all my classroom books yet. There are so many boxes in my basement that just say “books”, I can’t find the school ones.

Wonderful! That bookshelf found its proper home, and I applaud your cutting decision.

That is a serious storage closet, by the way. Is that all yours or is it for the whole school?

I share it a little bit. I can’t believe how much storage there is in this classroom. And then there are giant storage closets in the hallway as well. If I were a hoarder, I would be in heaven!

I was checking the time stamp on the comments, because Carol’s comment this morning is marked for 3:35am, and I wondered if that was a mistake. Unless something is wonky with the website, Carol was up before the chickens this morning.

Or she was a little night owl, up having a hoot of a time! (see what I did there)

[Sadly, the annual pre-school insomnia hit me this week. One night, “done” sleeping by 3:30; the following, by 2 something. Hence, the early posts there. Today I managed to stay supine until at least 5 (perhaps because today is Saturday?) so no posts until 6:25 a.m. Now, off for my morning walk!]

    Genius move with the bookcase!
