Dark Wash

The gas station across the street from my house has low gas prices. Because of that, and because I want them to stay in business, I almost always get my gas there. Besides having gas, they have a car wash, which they will conveniently sell you when you pump your gas. All you have to do is push the “yes” button.

Sunday I filled my tank and also bought a car wash. The line was too long, so I held on to my code and decided I would come back later. That “later” was yesterday. When I got home from school, I stopped at the gas station and went through the car wash. Baltimore uses so much salt on the roads, I thought I should rinse and remove some of it.

It was getting dark by the time I went through the car wash. This is the first time I’ve done that, and it was a little creepy. There aren’t any overhead lights in the car wash room. There are only some red lights on the spray arm. I was glad when the wash was done and I could pull out of that dark room.

Holy cow – I’m getting creeped out just thinking about it. The darkness, the noise, the slight swaying of the car and sudsy loss of vision? Gah! Only in the day! Only in the day!

Ever have a 6-8 year old freak out on you while you and her Mom are talking in the car going through the car wash? And that was in broad daylight no less. She’d have had a cardiac event where you were, I fear. Scary…

Yea, you gotta be careful in those car washes…..day or night. Thank goodness you don’t have a sunroof…..
