Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

Bright

It was another late night at school last night. This time it was for church and choir practice. Since there was a soup supper, there was no need to leave after school, so I just stayed in my room.

An interesting thing is happening with the sunlight in the hallway. In the afternoon, it reflects off the hallway floor in blinding fashion. What’s interesting is that I don’t remember it happening earlier this year. If I were to make a postulation, I would say that the angle at which the sun is rising and setting is changing. It’s almost as if there is some sort of change in the tilt of the earth happening.

The camera is exaggerating the brightness.

Hast thou amnesia?! Dost thou not recall how, in fall and again in spring (starting about now) the early a.m.light in the hallway of Kuenne Hall can be just as blinding? Indeed, that 23.5 degree tilt of our planet undoubtedly plays a hand in that. Happy longer days of light, though!

I do remember the blinding hallway there. The sunlight always made Debbie talk about the handprints all over the glass. She liked those windows to be clean 🙂

I always wanted to cover the glass with stained glass contact paper. Then colors would have been all over the floor. I did go out and clean the windows once in a while, but I am not a crazy cleaner. It is not like my windows at home are sparkling!

Good grief! I was not prepared for your camera-enhanced ball of glowing gasses! It looks like your hallway is going nova.

Maybe your school was built by some ancient druids, and tomorrow it will illuminate the whole burial chamber. (I fell asleep to some PBS once.)

Don’t I need a staff to put the top piece with the jewel on it?
Wait.. I’m not thinking druids, I’m thinking Raiders of the Lost Ark

That’s crazy talk. Stick with what you know English teacher.

Aha! I’ve taught almost everything. If I ever end up teaching PE, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

Oh, wait… I’ve never taught Science. Dang. How is it I’ve never taught Science and that was my major? Oh, and I haven’t taught Art either. So maybe my journey to ultimate power still has a ways to go.

So… slightly less powerful than I can possibly imagine? More powerful than I probably can’t imagine? Where does that leave me?

I think you know the answer to your own question: it’s how Lutheran schools roll. Frankly, I was amazed to be invited to teach biology again so many years back after 25+ years away from it. Judging by those amazing bulletin boards and general classroom decor, you would, IMHO, be a superb art teacher…someday…

WOW! If I stepped into the hall & saw that….I’d be worried I’d next hear:
