Decorating the Aquarium

I’ve had some plant die-back in my aquarium. I think it may have been because my aquarium heater was set for winter temperatures still. It was over ninety degrees in there! I have adjusted the temperature back to normal, but because of the plants being so small, there was an empty space. I needed some sort of tall decoration in there.

Some of the decorations the aquarium store sells are tall, but they are also crazy expensive. I decided to look at Marshall’s, because they have cheap home decorations. If I could find something ceramic, that would probably be fish-safe. Maybe a ceramic angel or a pitcher or bowl or something.

Then I saw the glass bottles and vases. Glass does not react to water. That would work! I got two big bottles from the clearance section for a total of $3, then added another bottle from the collection that used to be on top of my refrigerator. I was glad to find a use for this bottle, because it was given to me by my former pastor’s wife, who said it was one of the bottles her dad used when he made wine.

The special bottle is the one in front.

Fish have already gotten stuck inside the bottles. If I stick my arm into the water and wave my hand at the stuck fish, they swim away from my hand and out the bottle.

Ha! You answered my question at the end. I wondered about those fish getting stuck. If you put used a giant marble as a stopper, they couldn’t get in. Unless they’re really strong. And smart.

Cool…..Looks like a “Lost Pirate Treasure” <3 Aunt Bev 🙂
