Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

Sweets from the Past

I started the day by giving the message in church. HERE it is for the archive.

I went to the mall yesterday to walk around and to people-watch. I have found that since school has ended, I grin at people a lot. It’s mostly harmless, and they grin back. Yesterday was no exception. Maybe the sunny day made people be in a good mood.

While I was at the mall, I stopped at the sporting goods superstore looking for a new hat for when I have parking lot duty at school. I need something to keep the sun off. My old hat is losing its shape.

While I was walking around the store, I stopped at a candy display. There were various kinds of old-fashioned candies there. And then I saw it: they had haystacks! It’s a candy my Grandpa Hummel used to get for us. Of course I had to get some. They were delicious!

These are smaller than the ones I remember. Or maybe my hands are bigger. I made up for it by eating more of them.

I am happy that you found them, but shudder at their coconut-y insides. Hooray for memory candy!

I’m very glad you are smiling. Retirement is going to be a joy-filled occasion for you.

Wow! I found some of those while I was on the mainland last week and bought the coconut candy for exactly the same reason. My grandmother would always buy them for us! YUM!
