I wear a hat when I have parking lot supervision duty at school. It’s an old gardening hat that I’ve had for years. It’s gotten a little beaten up over time and has lost its original shape. I’m starting to feel a little self-conscious about wearing such a shabby hat with my usual Teacher Uniform of a shirt and tie.
Yesterday I went shopping for a new hat. I went to Goorin Brothers. I got my top hat from them. Back then, I had to go all the way to New York to visit their brick-and-mortar store. Since that time, they’ve opened a store in Georgetown in Washington DC.
I found a hat that I really liked, but it was very expensive. I didn’t think I could justify spending so much on a hat, especially during my economically lean months of summer.
A couple days earlier, I had gone to the Inner Harbor of Baltimore and visited Hats in the Belfry. They had a hat similar to the one I liked at Goorin Bros, but it had a bigger brim. I don’t like it as much, but it costs half as much money. It’s still kind of pricey though, so I don’t think I’ll be getting it either.
I’m confused: so no new hat yet? Sad. Your head is worth protecting at any price – but I wouldn’t want you to have to resort to sharing Gus’ kibble to make the purchase either, so I understand.
Question: in Pic #2 (Balto. Harbor store), aren’t you holding your phone (with camera) in your left hand? So was this picture actually taken?
Again I quip – I’m confused.
No new hat. I have until school starts to find one.
The last picture was taken in a mirror, so that’s my right hand.
Dang it, now I’m the one that’s off her game. Sorry about that.
It seems like a fun quest: the perfect hat. Quest, ho!
