Delightful Sights and Happy Times

Yesterday I went to Lincoln to run a quick errand, and ended up staying there for quite some time. Lauren and I went to several cool places, including a small neighborhood park that we stumbled across. The park had a HUGE man-made water feature. It was a waterfall, made of concrete that had been fashioned in to rock shapes. I LOVED it. If I ever become a rich person, I will have one of these built in my yard.

It needs a person for scale. The waterfall to the right is as high as a person.

One of our other stops was Finke Nursery. I love visiting there. They always have such interesting selections.

I wasn’t going to buy anything, but then I remembered that I drove here. I could take plants back in my truck! I got two unusual selections: a begonia with big drooping leaves that look like bat wings, and a small pale haworthia that looks like tentacles. The woman at the shop kept talking about how much she likes to assemble plants in a pot for Halloween. These would be two good selections:

When I got back to Seward, I spent some time with Gus. My parents had gone out for lunch, so it was just me and him. He got up when I came in, but quickly went back to sleep. I just sat next to him and read.

He loves to burrow under the blankets.

    Gus’ diary, Day 5:

Ah – peace and quiet! The rental humans have gone out, and I can burrow like crazy under all these…what the?!…Oh, look, it’s my regular person! Think I’ll at least pretend to be glad to see him, then continue with my (yawn, stretch) nap. Good thing he didn’t try to tell me about his “exciting” morning at the nursery or park and just sat there and read instead. This allowed me ample time to work on my beauty rest…zzzzzzzz

It was a surprisingly full day. “Just a quick trip to Lincoln!” Thank you for encouraging us to go to new places. 🙂

I couldn’t get over that waterfall. It was at 17th and a-street-that-started-with-H, right? If you get rich and build one, we’re all coming over to visit.

I really need you to remember where this was. We need a new place to explore. 🙂
