History

Last night in choir as we began rehearsing a piece for Holy Week, I noticed that I had been given copy number 6. That isn’t unusual, because my folder number in choir is 6. But it was unusual to see that the music number written on my music was in my handwriting.

I so often get music and it has someone else’s name written in elegant cursive, or it has markings on it that direct the altos to do something specific in some section of the song. This music has only ever been used by me. Now I’m the old timer.

I like this arrangement.

That reminds me of the old TV show Name That Tune. “I can identify that handwriting with just one digit.”

Yes! I was thinking the same thing!

Well, old-timer, it’s time for reading glasses and a shawl. “Gather ’round, children, and let me tell you about the time in ought-five when we sang for the big Hymn Festival……”
