Water, Part Two

I’ve tried a few experiments on the distilled water I’m drinking. Thinking that it’s a lack of minerals that is causing the flat taste of my water, I’ve tried a few additions to add minerals back in: a penny, some dirt, a rock, and some epsom salt. I also tried adding some dill seeds to see if a flavoring would make up for the lack of minerals.

The result: none of the waters taste any different to me, except for the dill. Now I think I might try adding some other substances. Perhaps some Gatorade powder, or a crushed vitamin tablet. I also may try a flavor extract like lemon or vanilla. During the Home and Garden Tour in my neighborhood, someone served me water with cucumber slices in it. It was delicious. But I would have to do that on a glass-by-glass basis, so that might be too much work.

My experiments will continue…

Top row: penny, dirt, epsom salt. Bottom row: dill seeds, rock.

You can freeze lemon slices and add them to your water whenever. I guess you could do that with cucumber, but it would wreck the texture. Or you could tell your eco-freek friend to stuff it and buy some water that you actually like.

The other thing you should be concerned about is the flouride. Ingesting flouride is important for teeth health (vs just brushing with some).

We’re used to not having fluoride around here. Seward tap water is not fluoridated…it’s actually come to a vote several times, but the crazies who live in this county refuse to let the water be fluoridated…

      *sigh*

I guess not EVERYTHING in Seward is perfect. 😉

You should just add your own fluoride. That way everyone can be happy.

        • Beth

Yes. That’s what we do for our kids…

But, I think the crazies who keep voting against it should have to pay for the fluoride drops.

Or pay for our kid’s dental bills when the inevitable cavities from lack of fluoride develop…

          *sigh*

Or maybe we should just move to a county where the water is fluoridated… 🙂

        • Deanne

Good, so you can just give Brad some fluoride drops.

Will you go buy some bottled water, please?!? You’re trying to drink dirt, for crying out loud!

I bet toenail clippings would make everything better!

For flavor, definately add a few lemon slices … but 1st change the water to wine (hehe).

Or if you insist on that water, try throwing a battery in. I’m sure you’ll get a good charge out of that.

How about a squirt of Tom’s? Besides flavor, are there minerals in that?

    • Kim

      a good charge…hehehe

…just keep praying, just keep praying, just keep praying, just keep praying, just keep praying…

And if I may, I’d like to ask for prayers for my son Matt (& me)from all you good people who live in Bradaptation Land as we prepare to dump Matt here this weekend:

“I CAN’T HEAR YOU … I SAID SOUND OFF!”: Hooh! Aah!
