Chuck E Cheese

We celebrated Tim’s birthday early yesterday. Though his real birthday is Thursday, Harold’s summer work schedule better allowed him to celebrate yesterday, so we did a birthday-party-in-advance at Chuck E Cheese.

Before we could enter, we were stamped with invisible numbers. They were only revealed under special lighting. I “borrowed” their special flashlight while they weren’t looking and snapped a picture. You can’t really see the numbers, but it was pretty cool in real life.

We were number 239 or something like that.

It was fun to maniacally spend tokens and try to win tickets. I think the skee-ball was rigged against us, but I do believe Tara got a “Hello Kitty” purse out of the day’s winning’s.

We ate in front of the stage with the scary animatronic creatures. Here I am trying to look happy, but really I’m scared.

Please don't kill me, Jasper T. Jowls!

Chuck E Cheese is great for the young ones. The whole number thing adds an extra layer of safety, which made me feel like I could let them have an extra bit of freedom. But after you’ve done 10 or 15 big school nights there, with hundreds of kids running around, you just have to hang it up and say goodbye to Chuck. But I’m glad you got to experience it. And I’m sure Tara had a biiiig smile on her face! (It’s worth it!)

Ahhh yes, the Chuck E Cheese days with the kids! I loved their pizza. The rest of it sometimes got on my nerves, especially waiting to check in the tickets for prizes. Brad I remember seeing that same look on the faces of many a kid! Often times those big creatures scared the heck out of the kids and they would go from smiles to tears.

It really awakened my gambling instincts, I must say. If I were rich I’d have a Skee-ball thingie in my basement. C’mon, 10,000!!

(Lauren – if I win the 4th of July package from Beth, I’ll “Pay it Forward” by sending you a skee ball machine—but then I get to visit on a regular basis … will that still count as “Paying it Forward”?)

SKEE-BALL?!?! Drive a stake thru my already bleeding heart why don’t you! Oh how I love skee-ball!

(Seriousy Brad—what happened to your magic powers in skee-ball?–no 500 tickets?)

Yea for Chuck E. Cheese… if you’re under 40″ tall. In honor of Tim’s birthday and the parents (and uncles and aunts and other enduring parents who’ve been to Chuck E. Cheese too many times), I present to you Tim Hawkins. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crQ7Y2alDxI

You should swap Chuck E. out for the Reese’s guy. 😀
