Party

Happy Fourth of July! Yesterday was Tim’s birthday. It was a day of celebrating and napping and celebrating again.

After church, we went to the country club for brunch. Tim (and Tara) got free Dairy Queen ice cream sandwiches for the special occasion. After the country club, I went back to the Pesters house, were I slept the sleep of the dead. I don’t know why, but I’m sleepy all the time lately. I think I could have slept until morning. But we had a picnic to go to. A picnic at a city park!

The picnic was fun. A group of karate kids were practicing in the park. They were fun to watch as we hung out and chatted and played on the playground equipment. We ate hot dogs and cupcakes. Mmm…

Tim's had four candles in it. He is four.

After dinner, we roasted marshmallows. Beth had some giant ones. They were ridiculously large… Novelty store large. I had to try one. I roasted it to melted-toasty perfection. But it wouldn’t fit in my mouth. I ended up squashing it all over the lower half of my face, but most of it went in. Mmm…

It was almost as big as my head!

    Happy Birthday to Tim!

“Marshmallows as big as your head!” – Just like burritos. 🙂

That park cracks me up. For those of you unfamiliar with Seward, it’s called Bemis Park but is cared for by some ‘Optimist’ group, and it’s right by Highway 34. Lloyd and I call it the Optimist Park – ‘You won’t get hit by a semi!’

As we were flying by on highway 34 we saw the karate children and some other people. You must have been the other people.

I’ve seen those hunormous marshmallows in the store…….but I thought I’d be too impatient to wait for those suckers to toast.

Are those fun-fetti cupcakes? Those are my kids favorite!

Tim looks as red as Bob the Tomato…or perhaps that’s just reflexion off his T-shirt? And that humongous marshamllow is one for the Guinness Book, I think. “Feeds a family of four” Looks like everyone had a great time celebrating the birthday of the young Pester lad – and now it’s time to celebrate the birthday of the good old America! Happy 4th, everyone!
