Yesterday in Literature class, we read a poem about moving grandma out of her house. In the poem, it talks about the objects in the house and the memories they hold.
I went looking for a visual aid. I didn’t find any pictures of my grandparents’ houses, but I did find a picture of the house we lived in in Knoxville. It’s a picture from my fifth birthday. I’ve always focused on the cake and the people in the picture, but the kitchen is in the background, and it was so interesting for me to notice all the small things…. the Tupperware salt and pepper shakers on the stove, the knife block hanging on the wall, the toaster cover that looks like a doll wearing a large dress… It was a walk down memory lane.
Love the picture!
We had those salt and pepper shakers, too.
Oh, that is a wonderful picture. 🙂 You, Brent and your mom with one of her legendary Shape Cakes – that is a great memory.
Your kitchen was fascinating! I’m going to be late for work looking at all the cool stuff. Is that an owl-something in front of the toaster?
So many memories! Still have the toaster cover. Always made her skirt to match the kitchen curtain material. Such fashion!
Such a cool pic. You guys haven’t changed much, you just got taller!!
I Remember That Kitchen!!!! Loved The People Who Lived In That House…..STILL DO!!!! <3 🙂 P.S. I think I could draw a floor plan of the whole house (spiral stairs & all!!) …..Loved Visiting You There!!! 🙂
You can tell from my haircut that I was a big Star Trek fan in 1975.
Brad, is this after you cut your own hair?
Ha! I didn’t notice my hair. Yes, maybe it was after my run-in with the chewing gum.
Yes, nice bangs!!! HA
I remember that kitchen!!!! Yes, the toaster doll!!!! Wow…….good memories.
