Welcome to Brad's online memory archives.

A Mystery and Some Misc.

My flights went pretty well yesterday, although it was a long day. My first flight from LA to Denver was on a big plane. When we exited, they called groups of rows, while everyone else was supposed to sit still. There was grumbling.

The first group was rows one through twelve. The second group was fourteen through twenty-two. “Where did thirteen go?” I wondered.

There wasn’t a row thirteen. How odd! Is that true of every airplane?

On my flight from Denver to Lincoln, I was in a small old plane. I was in row 4, so I couldn’t see back far enough to see if there. The seat map on my United app showed the numbers though:

Again, no thirteen! Some other rows were missing too. Interesting. I did walk back to confirm, but it caused a tall man to duck under the luggage rack and get grumpy, so I didn’t get a picture.

And, for the memory archive, I must record two beautiful things. First, the coneflower that Samith got me as a welcome gift:

And second, the Nebraska sunset. (There was actually quite a bit of daylight left, but the sky glowed like this all the way until the sun disappeared.)

The Eye of Nebraska. It was watching us to see if we were ready for the night’s thunderstorms…..

Hooray for your arrival! That is super weird about the 13th row, and worth investigating.

I am a fan of the dismissal off the plane – it makes it into a more orderly deplaning. (Although, it does make it maddening for people with narrow connection windows.)

I think it’s true about no 13 row…. some buildings don’t have a 13 th floor. Superstition wins! I think it’s bad luck to have some people driving but that still happens? Guess that’s why 13 year olds don’t drive?
