Refreshing Repose

I woke up to go to the bathroom yesterday morning, and when I got back into bed, I grabbed a blanket. I was cold. It was the first time I’ve been cold for a long time. It’s been warm here, and my air conditioners make it comfortably cool, but not cold-cold. Especially in my bedroom.

It was wonderful.

I just heard part of an interview on the radio with a sleep guy. He was giving advice for good sleep, and he said the human body cools down a couple of degrees before going into sleep-mode, so having a cool bedroom is good. His other advice was: stay away from alcohol and caffeine, and have a regular bedtime and wake up time.

A solid ‘yes’ to cold sleep. We were mattress shopping and a guy at one of the places said, “The ideal sleeping temperature is between 68 – 72 degrees.” I scoffed (inwardly) and said (outwardly), “My ideal temperature is 56 degrees.” Bring on winter, man. I need to hibernate.

    I’m glad you cooled down!

I need to sleep in the cool, too. In winter it’s at most 60 degrees. And now, I have the AC programmed to go down a couple of degrees at night. I’m glad it’s getting cooer for you.

Well… since he’s suggesting five different things, 4/5 is still pretty good, right?
