Stink Solution

During our recent rainstorm, water had somehow gotten into my truck and made it stink. All I had time to do was sprinkle some baking soda. Until Thursday, when I went to the store looking for chemical solutions to my problem.

I found a spray that said it neutralized odors, so I got some:

I also found a bucket of stuff that is supposed to suck humidity out of the air.

I sprayed the odor neutralizer spray very liberally. Yesterday morning, the powdery fragrance was choking, but it was better than the feet smell that it replaced.

The day was hot and sunny. I left the windows closed so the carpet water could evaporate and be absorbed by the magical bucket crystals.

I think it worked! The carpet seems mostly dry, my truck doesn’t stink (though the powder scent is still strong), and the carpet looks much cleaner. Yay!

    Hooray!!

I am familiar with Odo-Ban. We bought a gallon of it when the old center had sewage backup in the basement. (So gross.) I find the scent to be reminiscent of ‘cheap motel room’. It will fade. I should have thought to recommend Bac-Out enzyme cleaner. It eats odor-causing particles and it smells like lime. (We use it for pee accidents on carpet.). For your viewing pleasure, here’s a training video I made back in 2016 for our staff. My voice is ruined because I was awash in stomach acid for a year. The friend I quote at the beginning is Deborah! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxCNRqz0K-g

That DampRid stuff is amazing. My late friend, Sandy (who relocated to Florida from Jersey), swore by it to prevent mold and mildew on her clothing and such in her home. We have used it in our basement on occasion as well. Glad you finally found a solution – literally and figuratively.
