Field Trip

The middle school went on a field trip yesterday. We went to an old art deco theater called the Warner Grand that was built in 1931. They have an annual event where kids read a book, then watch a movie based on the book. This year’s selection was “The Jungle Book”. I have to admit, I’ve never read “The Jungle Book”, and it’s been years and years since I last saw the Disney cartoon version. But it was delightful.

As an added bonus, they had a bagpipe player. Bagpipes! Ha! He’s coming down the aisle in this picture:

What a fun field trip! I talked with my students about how the kids in Hawaii were bored with Hawaiian dancing and singing field trips, and I asked if old Hollywood stuff was boring to them. They said yes. Heh. We humans get so easily bored with things we see all the time, even if they are amazing.

Well, I’m the king of the swingers’ group – the jungle VIP.
I reached the top and had to stop, and that’s what’s bothering me.

    – Thank you so much for today’s earworm, Brad!

How funny that they are bored with this kind of stuff. Maybe they could do a swap with the Maui kids? A low-level student exchange?
