Sunny Thoughts

I don’t much care for January. It’s the month that winter finally catches up with me. I can pretend it’s fall all the way into December. Then Christmas distracts me. But in January, it’s winter. Even though the days are getting longer by now, I feel the lack of light. I feel like a plant that isn’t photosynthesizing enough.

Yesterday I stopped at the grocery store for milk and junk food. As I was walking past the floral displays, I saw primroses. Primroses! It felt like something that had been tightening in my chest loosened just a little. I stopped to look at them for a little while. Even though people might have thought I was crazy, I took a picture. Spring will come again! The Early Dark will end!

I've never actually grown primroses in my garden.

Aw, that breaks my heart a little. You really need to live in a more southern climate. Either that or build a greenhouse.

Your greenhouse should completely enclose your real house.

Did you buy one? So you could carry it around with you for the next two months or so?

The colors are so vibrant! Spring is a-comin’…… sometime.

I think you’re already awakening a bit – I read some “sap” in there somewhere (tee hee). Those were lovely blossoms and it would have been great if you could have taken some home with you to brighten your living area. ‘Course, I imagine the store would have preferred you pay for them first…
