Not Winning at Bingo

My school sponsored its annual bingo night last night. The prizes were Longaberger baskets and Vera Bradley bags. I’ve gone a couple years in a row now, and it’s been really fun. Except no one at our table ever wins. We get really close, but no yell of “Bingo!”. It’s okay, because we enjoy hanging out with each other and we enjoy yelling angrily when someone else wins. This year we even started making pirate noises. Instead of “Awww!”, we started yelling “Arrrgh!” Ha!

I got close to winning the regular bingo games several times. I also got really close to winning one of the special games when I almost spelled an “S”.
Darn you, I-17!

They also had some raffles. You could buy tickets and put them in the bucket of whatever prize you liked. There were three prizes to choose from. One prize was a wine and cheese basket that also included a wine and cheese party for 25 of your closest friends with horderves prepared by a chef. The basket was sponsored by Michele’s family’s kitchen remodeling company. The party is at one of the kitchen show rooms. It sounded really fun. I put all my tickets in that bucket.

Its mine!
I won it! HA! I was so excited. My whole table cheered! We won something! We finally won something! The curse is broken! And we’re all going to a party! Woo hoo!

Wow! That is a great prize! A party at a showroom is a fantastic idea. 25 friends, though? That’s a gift for social people. I think I’d have trouble coming up with 25 people that I even know.

Will your table dress up like pirates next year? 🙂

Will Charles strip down and sing “A Pirate’s Life for Me”?

You know the only reason the curse ended is because I left early. Just ask our middle school basketball teams: they are ahead when I enter the gym to cheer them on, but by the end of my spectating often there has been a bloody masacre and not at our team’s hands. It’s true.

Just be sure to not include me as one of the 25 friends or surely something horrific will take place at this lovely-sounding wine and cheese event. 🙁

But YEA FOR WINNING SOMETHING! (Michele, you sure this wasn’t rigged?)

    OH! And…
    1. …we were serious about your wearing that sweater to school some day…with or without a tie. Go crazy and skip the tie some day; it’ll really throw your students off, I’m sure.
    2. …does that basket tag say “along with a life chef”? Would they have sent a dead one otherwise?! (I wanted to add far more punctuation than this, but I’m cutting back. In fact, I’m considering giving up punctuation for Lent this year – I depend on it so much for written communication I know it will be a genuine sacrifice.)

Hooray!! That’s fantastic! I’m so sorry I missed it … and for no good reason as it turns out. 🙁

BUT I am super glad that the heavens & stars have finally realigned to their correct positions … the we shine on the Brad position! 😉

I hope you like the cheese in that basket! I asked the cheese expert at Wegmans which cheeses could stand being out of the fridge for a few hours and that’s what she picked.
I agree with Carol – that sweater looked super nice on you. It would be a good test to see if the students notice you out of character.

    Hooray!! Congrats!!

I’m sort of hoping you hold off on that party until June…when soem Nebraskans can be part of your 25! 🙂
