Message Received

I got a phone call during the day yesterday and couldn’t answer it. When I looked at the voice-to-text voicemail message, it didn’t help very much:

Listening to the voicemail was much more helpful. “bro sideways” was actually Baltimore Solid Waste.

Back in June, I was particularly moved by the kindness of the Dump Guy I kept seeing. I wrote an email to the Baltimore City Department of Solid Waste to commend his great service. I didn’t know if it was going to the right address or not, so I included all my contact information in case they needed to follow up. The voicemail does not say they need more info, but it did say the message was received, and that it will not go unnoticed. Yay!

Aw, that is wonderful! Unintelligible, but still wonderful. I’m so glad you took time to tell someone about that man’s good work. I bet he’s glad, too. 🙂

I recall with a smile your exchange with this Christian worker. You obviously went over and above the call to acknowledge how pleasant he was to work with (particularly in comparison with his peers in the past). So…

I’m going to offer this translation of your interesting text based on your earlier experience and story related above – how’d ya’ think I did?

“Good afternoon. This is John Thomas (from) Baltimore Solid Waste just calling you to let you know I received the recommendation for Michael at the drop off. (Skip a bit of garbage…) I just wanted to thank you for taking the time out to (no idea what to do with “sadden of”) praise (for) one of our…fillets? [Did this guy have no bones?!?!]. It will not go unnoticed. Thank you.”

May you get a similar note some day from someone equally grateful for your going out of your way for them.
