Top Hat Obsession

Happy Birthday to my niece Anna! Yay! She’s ten years old today! Yay!

I have lately been obsessing over top hats. I think I want to wear one as my winter hat this winter. I’ve wanted to get a real top hat ever since I got a costume top hat from Lloyd and Lauren last Christmas. My problem is my age – I’m not young enough to look “edgy” when I’m wearing something as weird as a top hat, and I’m not old enough to be a crazy old man. A co-worker suggested “mid-life crisis”. That seems like a workable solution.

I’ve found a top hat I think would look good on me HERE, but I can’t try it on. Will it look okay? Will it fit? I’d like to know. I decided to go to a hat store in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor to try a top hat on. They didn’t have quite the shape I wanted. The top of the hat I tried on flared out at the top. But it would at least give me an idea of the look and fit. The size Large was too big, but the size Medium was too small. The man working at the store was very helpful. He put the Medium in a hat-stretching device. But it was still too small. It made dents in my forehead.

I’m not dissuaded from my desire to have a top hat. Perhaps I can find another hat store… Perhaps this will be a Quest!

Too big!

I think you can solve the question of “Why are you wearing a top hat?” by always keeping a rabbit in there.

It would be great it every time you took it off.

Ha! Great idea Lauren!! And with Lloyd’s background music…how cool would that be!
(but Brad, that would be a live rabbit, not a beheaded one)

You look good in a top hat. I suggest you add a scarf to complete the look. Also, I can’t believe that I had never been to top-hats.com before.
